The importance of facilities management
4th November 2022
Background
As we enter the Autumn/Winter season and schools and universities head back we need to be prepared against those winter bugs and the spreading of illnesses. Winter can be a tough time for both kids and adults to stay healthy and as businesses it’s important to ensure we’re safe and using preventative measures.
With the continuous concern for hygiene in public spaces post Covid-19, reassurance comes from facilities management packages like the one Micro-Fresh® offer are the way popular stores like Next can ensure their customers safety.
Why safety post-covid is still important.
In a post-covid world, though we have access to vaccinations and booster jabs to reduce the risk of catching the virus – the risk of transmission is still there. Therefore cleaning will remain critically important. This means businesses should be fully tracking and managing all aspects of the cleaning process and maintaining accountability to ensure their businesses are safe for their staff and others. As a minimum, frequently touched surfaces should be wiped down twice a day, and one of these should be at the beginning or the end of the working day. Cleaning should be more frequent depending on the number of people using the space, whether they are entering and exiting the setting and access to handwashing and hand-sanitizing facilities. Cleaning of frequently touched surfaces is particularly important in bathrooms and communal kitchens.
Why is Good Hygiene Important? Maintaining a high standard of hygiene in care, nursing and residential homes is extremely important. People living in care are likely to be elderly or have more vulnerable immune systems, which can make them more susceptible to commonly transmitted infections. It is also equally important to keep schools clean. Keeping your school clean will help prevent your teachers and students from getting sick. The spreading of colds and flu is apparent in schools because of the number of contact students have.
Facilities Management with Micro-Fresh®
When store browsing, or making purchases, as a customer we often pick up items, put them back down and move onto the next. It’s easy to forget in the moment how much bacteria is on those surfaces and how many other customers may have done the exact same thing.
We are used to seeing an oversaturated market and overfilled cleaning cupboard when it comes to disinfectants and beaches but soft furnishings are often forgotten when it comes to hygiene in public spaces. This is why when Micro-Fresh® consider facilities management, we develop tailored products for all situations and needs.
Micro-Fresh® technology protects textiles from harmful and odour causing bacteria, cross-contamination of viruses and mould growth. Spraying it onto furniture in places such as hospitals, care homes, showrooms, stores or schools can help reduce the spread of illnesses as we come into the winter months.
